Learn THIS Creative Way to Manage Your Weaknesses

The last several blogs have defined "weakness" and claimed that there are several ways to manage around our weaknesses, rather than just ignoring them (or wasting your time trying to "fix" them).

Here's Creative Strategy #3... (Haven't seen the prior blogs? Click here.)

Use one of your strongest talent themes to overwhelm your weakness.

Gallup relates the story of Mike, a consultant who gives speeches to business audiences. He's very successful in that role and always booked... up to a year in advance!

However, when he was a young child, he developed a stammer. Throughout his young life, and into high school, he was often ridiculed by classmates.

One day he was selected to give a reading to the whole school. He was angered that he'd be subject to humiliation, BUT...

When he got to the stage and grabbed the lecture for dear life, the words began to flow. He ended up reading the short piece without stammering at all.

What happened?

He realized just before starting when he looked out at the faces of the crowd he felt... energized! It dawned on him that he loved being onstage—the combination of Significance (the talent of being recognized, heard, and standing out) and Communication (the talent of explaining, describing, speaking in public, or writing).

This is an example of strengths overwhelming a weakness.

So, BE OPEN TO TALENTS THAT COULD DO THE SAME FOR YOU.
